India will soon take back Pak occupied areas: Dr. Jitendra Singh

India will soon take back the areas of Jammu and Kashmir which are under Pakistan’s occupation, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for PMO, said on Saturday while speaking at Kargil Vijay Diwas program organised in west Delhi. The present government led by Sh. Narendra Modi has the conviction to achieve this and we are capable enough to bring peace back to the valley, he said.

Sumvikas Charitable Trust and Jammu Kashmir People’s Forum organised this event in Janakpuri to remember and pay tributes to the martyrs of Kargil war. Over 500 people from different sections of the society attended the program – including people belonging orginally to PoJK areas of Mirpur, Poonch etc. Senior academicians, bureaucrats, local corporators and leaders were among the galaxy of well known people who attended the program.

The program was chaired by Padamshri Sh. Jawaharlal Kaul, senior journalist and president of Jammu Kashmir Study Centre (a thinktank). Sh. Alok Bansal (defence expert) was the Keynote Speaker. Sh. Ajay Bharti (MLC, Jammu and Kashmir) also attended the function as Special Invitee. Jammu Kashmir Study Centre (JKSC) was the knwoledge partner in the event.

Particularly addressing those among the audience and guests who were originally from Jammu and Kashmir but were forced to leave their homes from what is now called Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK), Dr Jitendra Singh said “It is the resolve of this government that you will return to your homeland soon.”

“We are determined to get back the entire territory ruled by Maharaja Hari Singh, who had handed over his empire to the Union of India. The government of India is now working towards this goal,” he said.

“Pakistan has never been able to come to terms with the fact that Jammu Kashmir is Indian territory. Its establishment keeps trying to incite violence in the valley. Their nefarious designs are being thwarted with strong measures ever since the Modi government has come to power. The security forces are eleminating terrorists on a daily basis.”

“The people of Kashmir valley are fed up with the violence and separatist activities... Students from the state are breaking new grounds, they are getting excellent ranks in IITs also. For the past two years, Kashmiri students are getting good ranks in civil services exams. The youth of Kashmir are excelling in various fields. They clearly understand that terrorists are their real enemy. It is just a handful of youth who are being misguided by separatist forces,” he said. “Jihad is not a fight for independence but an industry which runs on money,” he said.

“The government cannot publicise everything it does, but the maximum work is done silently and effectively,” Dr Jitendra Singh told the gathering at the Kargil Vijay Diwas event.

The Kargil Vijay Diwas program was preceded by an academic session wherein experts from JKSC discussed different aspects of Jammu Kashmir with about 80 academicians and intellectuals. Sh. Ashutosh Bhatnagar (Secretary, JKSC) addressed the session related to the history and accession of Jammu Kashmir state. Supreme Court advocate Sh. D.K. Dubey, member of JKSC’s team of legal experts, addressed the session related to Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution of India.

The organisers of Kargil Vijay Diwas said the event was organised with the twin purpose of paying tributes to Kargil war martyrs, and to inform  the people about the real facts about Jammu Kashmir state, where the Kargil war took place. The audience appreciated the information shared during the course of the entire event and actively asked questions from the experts in their midst.

Well known poet Gajendra Solanki also enthralled the audience as he presented a string of patriotic compositions, interspersed with slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai.

The program culminated with the National Anthem, sung by all the guests and audience.
